Dance movie proves to be step down

by Beka Rutledge, entertainment editor

The moves are hot, but the plot is not.

“Step Up 2: The Streets” is really just a remake of the first movie with a few changes. This time it’s a girl with the street moves who gets in trouble and is forced to enter the Maryland School of Arts. Also, the movie focuses more on street dancing, which is probably the one thing that saves the film from being a total flop.

'Spiral' makes for suspenseful film

by Amanda Anders, staff writer

With the movie only being released at limited theatres, “Spiral” hasn’t received much local coverage.

That is a mistake.  I must admit that I felt the movie started out a bit slow, but you soon realize that all of the character development is as important to the story as the ending.

Lead actor Joel David Moore (“Dodgeball”, “Avatar”, “Hatchet”) shares both writing credit with Jeremy Danial Boreing, a former South Plains College student, as well as directing credit with Adam Green in the movie which takes place in scenic Portland, Oregon.

Jane (Heigl) seems to be the most selfless woman in New York. She is always helping all her friends have romantic endings but can never seem to find one for herself.
