Court of Appeals provides insight into judicial process

As an
audience gathered into the Sundown Room of the Student
Center on the Levelland campus at South Plains College,
three District Seven Court of Appeals Justices waited
patiently to be announced into the room.
The Sundown
Room was the site of four case hearings by the 7th
Court of Appeals on March 4.
Generous contributions make scholarship gals rewarding

This year’s South Plains College scholarship gala was a
grand evening packed with a lot of generosity, and even some
star power.
The 11th
Annual Scholarship Gala was held Feb. 28 in the Physical
Education Complex.
The “Boots
and Pearls” Gala was a big success.
“It has been
very successful,” said Stephen John, vice president for
institutional effectiveness at SPC. “There is a great
turnout, and in this hard economic time, it’s so rewarding
to see this much help. Everyone is so generous.”
Students offered elite NASA opportunity

For most students
interested in science and engineering, working at NASA is
the most prestigious career that can be achieved.
For 12 South
Plains College students, this dream will become a reality
for three days in April. The students will visit the
Johnson Space Center in Houston on April 14 – April 16 with
the Community College Aerospace Scholars program.
City campaign encourages Levelland to"Go Clean!"

A group of concerned citizens and community leaders are
guiding an organized effort created by the City of Levelland
that will clean up the town in the hopes of creating a more
attractive environment for its visitors.
The Levelland Go CLEAN! spring clean-up
initiative is a campaign to encourage and assist citizens in
cleaning up their properties and improving the appearance of
the city.
New addition adds more room for education

Students and faculty are benefiting from the new wing of the
Communications Building.
The addition
was a process that took about 10 years to make happen. Most
of the waiting was due to trying to get the approval and
receiving the available funds for the construction.
'Go For It' on April 7
by Britni Palomino, co-edtior-in-chief South Plains
College will host the 16th annual Go For It, a
free seminar to help provide step-by-step planning for
college.
The event will
be held on April 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Room 101 of the
Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center.
PTK induction set for March 10

Phi Theta Kappa will be presenting certificates to around 75
new members during its spring induction ceremony. The event
is set for 7 p.m on March 10 in the Sundown Room of the
Student Center on the Levelland campus.
Judging team experiencing sucess

Livestock Judging Team rounded up numerous awards recently
in San Antonio at the 60th annual Livestock Show
and Rodeo.
