Ride-along with police surprising experience
by Thomas Mooney, staff writer
Being picked up
by the police on a Friday evening usually is a bad sign for
how the rest of your night is going to be.
Not many can
say they have sat in the back of a police car and got out
whenever they pleased.
Small decisions can have big impact
by Lyndsey Wolf, staff writer
Daily decisions you make can affect your life in so many
different ways.
The
decisions you make are going to give you a positive or
negative outcome every day. People don’t think about the
long run when they make decisions. They just think about how
the decisions they make are going to be when they do it at
the time. That’s with anything. People don’t think before
they do things.
Success comes from self-discovery
by Jennifer Moore, editorial assistant
For the longest
time, death has been my biggest fear.
It is not
because I wonder where I am going. I just think of
everything I will leave behind. Heaven is going to be so
much better than the world I live in now. I do love my life
though.
Learning from bad choices vital for change
by Teresa Grimaldo, staff writer
The excitement and freedom of being a freshman in college
can be so overwhelming.
During my freshman year, I had it all, a new car, an
apartment, and lots of money. By the time I started
attending South Plains College, I was six months into my
addiction. My addiction was born in a matter of seconds with
one bad decision.
Keeping close to family builds better lives

Prospective Jindal-Palin ticket could spell disaster
by Thomas Mooney, staff writer
A few weeks
ago, President Barack Obama addressed Congress for the first
time of his presidency.
He mainly

Lessons learned form lifelong friend
by Leslie Hale, staff writer
I am not an
animal person.
In elementary
school, I would cry during class field trips to the petting
zoo, and dogs make me so nervous that I often literally have
trouble breathing when I'm around them.
Fame comes at high price for children of stage parents
by Nicole Rios, staff writer
Some parents will do anything for fame.
Parents can be very selfish. It’s sad

STD rates high among Lubbock youth
by Tausha Rosen, editorial assistant
Living in a college town is going to have its pros and cons.
Parties and
friends are a bonus, but all those good things are packaged
with negatives. It’s inevitable.
Experience with police leaves lasting memories
by Daniel Clayton, opinion editor
Riding in a police car is an experience that I don’t want to
forget.
It was my senior year of high school and my brother, David,
and I got in a fight over a girl. At the time I lived with
my grandparents, and my grandmother came home to find David
and I wrestling on the floor, punching each other in random
places.
Pursuing education important for success
by Vanessa Garcia, editorial assistant
Nothing comes free in life, but there are so many people who
see it that way.
I have a
friend who is a single mom who talks about how she wants
this cool- looking car with tinted windows, fancy wheel rims
and a sound system in it. I tell her to have fun while
trying to pay for that, when in reality she can’t. And I
don’t think she will be able to at the rate she is going.
