This portion of the ACCUPLACER ONLINE© Computerized Placement Assessment consists of 20 questions. The first type of questions consists of a reading passage followed by a question based on the text. The second type of questions, sentence relationships, presents two sentences followed by a question about the relationship between these two sentences.

 


Sample Reading Passage

There are two types of pottery that I do. There is production pottery—mugs, tableware—the kinds of things that sell easily. These pay for my time to do the other work, which is more creative and satisfies my needs as an artist.

SENTENCE SKILLS
This portion of the ACCUPLACER ONLINE© Computerized Placement Assessment consists of 20 questions of two types. The first type contains sentence correction questions, which require an understanding of sentence structure. The second type contains construction shift questions. These questions ask that a sentence be rewritten according to the criteria shown while maintaining essentially the same meaning as the original sentence. Students are asked to select the correct word or phrase to complete the sentence.
