The Nursing Department on the Levelland Campus is located in the Technical Arts Bldg. Room 110

Entrance Requirements 

  • All students who are trying to apply for Fall 2006 Vocational Nursing Program MUST take ACCUPLACER as the entrance exam.
  • Students CANNOT take THEA, ASSET or COMPASS to apply for the Vocational Nursing Program.
  • There will be NO EXEMPTIONS allowed for testing purposes.
  • Students may test ANYTIME the ACCUPLACER test is offered.    Students are encouraged to test EARLY in order to avoid complications of testing at the last minute. 
  • Students may retest on ACCUPLACER every 2 weeks.
  • Students who have taken and passed the TEAS test previously MUST take and pass the ACCUPLACER exam.
  • Students may take the ACCUPLACER anywhere it is offered, but they must make sure that they take these sections of the exam:  Reading Comprehension, Elementary Algebra, Sentence Skills and the Essay.
  • Cut off scores on ACCUPLACER in order to apply for the VOCATIONAL NURSING PROGRAM are
Reading Comprehension: 78
*Elementary Algebra 63

(scores between 20-62 may be considered - no math points will be given for scores below 63.  Students who score 63 or below are encouraged to retest on the Elementary Algebra section of the test)

English/Sentence Skills: 

 

80 with Essay 5

or an Essay of 6-8

 

Application Deadline for the LVN Program is June 1, 2006 at noon

Students testing as late as May 31, 2006 should have all the below documentation in hand at testing

Registration Form

  1. Complete application for admissions to the Vocational Nursing program. The application will be completed the day of the pre-entrance exam if you have passing scores on all three sections of the test.
  1. Provide official transcripts from high school or GED scores & certificate (for GED scores, contract the State of Texas or the place where you tested) to both the college Admissions Office and to the Nursing Department.
  1. Provide official college transcript (if applicable) to both South Plains College Admissions Office and to the Nursing Department.
  1. A copy of ACT and or SAT scores (if applicable)
