SPC’s Continuing Education announces spring evening schedule
LEVELLAND – South Plains College’s Division of Continuing and Distance Education announces its spring 2014 Evening Schedule. The following classes will be offered in late January and February.
Hydrogen Sulfide Safety will be offered from 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays starting Feb. 3, March 3 and April 7. The cost is $15, and the class will be conducted in Law Enforcement Room 108.
H2S training is required for anyone working in the oilfield or petrochemical industry. Hydrogen Sulfide training is required for all workers involved in oil exploration, production and refining. In order to work safely around hydrogen sulfide, students must be aware of its properties and characteristics. This training class teaches how to recognize when Hydrogen Sulfide is present in the work area and take necessary precautions to safely work with it.
The Digital Jump Start at South Plains College Reese Center class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 25 in Building 8. This class is the first in a series of classes on digital photography.
Basic Phlebotomy Session One is set for Jan. 27 through Feb. 19. The class will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays in Technical Arts Room 124. Clinicals will be arranged. The cost is $415. The textbook will cost $115.
A Quilt Piecing class will be offered in Levelland on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. beginning with an Orientation class on Jan. 27. The class will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Feb. 10 through April 7 in the Technical Arts Building in Room 122. The cost is $40 plus supplies.
Certified Nurse Aide will be offered from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday from Feb. 3 through Feb. 28. The class will meet in the Technical Arts Building in Room 120, and the cost is $425 for the course and $57 for the textbook. Clinicals will be arranged.
An Amateur (ham) Radio Class will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Auto/Diesel Building. The class will meet for four sessions slated for Feb. 4, Feb. 6, Feb. 11 and Feb. 13. Students will learn about emergency communications, emergency preparedness as well as prepare to take and pass the Federal Communications Commission exam for Technician class license. There is no charge for the class.
On Feb. 8, a Digital Jump Start class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SPC Plainview Center, 1920 W. 24th St.
Old World Walls Faux Finishing class is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. from Feb. 10 through March 3 in the Technical Arts Building in Room 122. The cost is $80 and includes supplies.
Introduction to Group Guitar I will be offered on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. starting Feb. 10 through March 10 in the Commercial Music Building in Room 146. The cost is $75, and space is limited.
An Intermediate Photography Class will be conducted at SPC Reese Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 22 in Building 8.
