    South Plains College wins eight marketing awards at district conference

     

    LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Office of College Relations won eight Medallion Awards from District 4 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). The conference was held Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in the Overton Hotel in Lubbock.

    “Big Ideas: Everything is Bigger in Texas” was the theme of the conference.

    SPC earned four gold and four silver awards. SPC won gold medals for the 2012-2013 SPC Student Academic Catalog, 2012-2013 SPC Student Guide, SPC Technical Education Awareness Ad Series and Half Marathon Logo Design.

    Silver awards were earned for the 2013 SPC Rink Bownds Memorial Rodeo Program, SPC Pocket Folder, Television Advertisement/PSA – Series as well as Successful Recruitment Marketing Program for 2013 New Student Orientation.

    “It’s an honor to get to tell the story of South Plains College and get recognized for it,” said Dane Dewbre, Associate Dean of College Relations. “Our College Relations and New Student Relations staffs are all very talented, and I am proud they have been awarded for their work.”

    The Office of College Relations and New Student Relations staff members are Matt Ballentine, Visual Communications Specialist; Chase Dunn, Recruiter; Adrian Mellberg, Web Content and Social Media Coordinator; Mary Pate, Visual Communications Specialist; Kathryn Perez, Coordinator of New Student Programs; Cindy Scott, Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean of College Relations; Wes Underwood, Communications Specialist/Photographer; Myrna Whitehead, Coordinator of News and Information; and Christy Wright, New Student Relations Clerk. Joe Walker, Sports Information Coordinator, also contributed to the projects.

    NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. As one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMRP has more than 1,550 members from more than 650 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries.
