    SPC’s Kappa Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa hosts induction ceremony

     

    LEVELLAND – The Kappa Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at South Plains College recently inducted 84 students during a ceremony at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 9) in the Sundown Room.

    SPC alumnus Dr. Bronson Lester, doctor of Chiropractic, will present the keynote address.

    Hockley County inductees were Anisa Duran, Jane Mara and Matthew Race, all of Levelland; and Drew Brannon of Ropesville.

    Cochran County inductee was Shannon Prieto of Morton.

    Lamb County inductees were Kendra Hernandez of Olton, Jeanette Flores of Amherst and Angelica Juarez of Earth.

    Floyd County inductee was Gracie Cervera of Floydada.

    Swisher County inductee was Amanda Collier of Kress.

    Hale County inductees were Neiba Jiminez of Abernathy and Yolanda Rodriguez of Plainview.

    Yoakum County inductees were Denise Tarango and Fabian Zaragoza, both of Plains; Edgar Fonseca of Denver City; and Gregorio Andazola of Tokio.

    Lubbock County inductees were Jessica Aranda, Nadine Atah, Susan Beltran, Vanessa Caballero, Kendra Cathey, Gabriel Colon, Cecilia Davila, Garrett Dewbre, Matthew Gonzales, Adriana Gonzalez, Katie Joe Hensley, Alejandra Hernandez, Jeri Holubec, Lindsey Johnson, Madison Kauffman, Nicholas Kopper, Crystal Langham, Ashley Mandrell, Shonda Mayer, Kimberly Moreau, BreeAnna Musgrove, Sydney Pasma, Clay Reilly, Katy Rendon, Janice Rowe, Patrick Tone and Tina Welch, all of Lubbock; and Philip Norwood of Wolfforth.

    Students from other Texas cities inducted were Miguel Carnero of Perryton, Chase Eubanks of Forney, Keyla Kothman of Sheffield, Bailey Latham of Seymour, Alex Mason of McKinney and Ashley Sursely of Midlothian.

    Out of state student inducted into PTK was Juliana Koelbl of Los Angeles, Calif.

    To be eligible for induction, students must attend an institution offering an associate degree program, complete at least 12 hours of coursework, have full citizenship in their country and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above. The benefits of membership include access to letters of recommendation, enrollment in a senior college database and a membership pin.
