    SPC’s Kappa Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducts 65 during ceremony

     

    LEVELLAND – The Kappa Mu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at South Plains College recently honored 100 students as inductees of the society. Sixty-five students participated in the ceremony that was held at 7 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 10) in the Sundown Room.

    SPC alumnus and former Kappa Mu Chapter Student President Bruce Turnipseed presented the keynote address.

    Hockley County inductees were Nicholas Acosta, McKaile Alexander, Claudio Bustos, Kurtis Cavitt, Blake Grant, Janet King, Maxim Nikolayev, Levi Norman, Felix Oesterreic, Oyuki Perez, Victoria Romero, all of Levelland; and Halee Turner of Whiteface.

    Lamb County inductees were Nancy Delgado and Caitlyn Netherland, both of Sudan; Cassandra Leos and Joe Ramirez-Vega, both of Littlefield; and Nicole Trugillo of Amherst.

    Hale County inductee was Brittany Boyd of Hale Center.

    Swisher County inductee was Isis Infante of Kress.

    Terry County inductees were Jamie Alvarado, Anthony Briones and Justina Guenter, all of Brownfield.

    Yoakum County inductee was Luisa Martinez of Denver City.

    Lubbock County inductees were Jeanette Anderson, Nadia Barnhill, Shawnee Beaty, Gracie Bernal, Chelsey Branch, Sara Bruegel, Bobby Diaz, Nadia Gonzalez, Mateo Grimaldo, Rebecca Hawkenson, William Hedgpeth, Marisa Huerta, Zuzel Lopez Del Castillo, Emily Margrave, Adrian Martinez, Jeremy Martinez, Agwe Muki, Stephen O’Dell, Anna Peters, Samuel Tackitt, Allison Terry, Bianca Thomas, AshLee Ward and Christopher Wheeler, all of Lubbock; Norma Nino of Idalou; Stephen Constancio, Jennifer Harrison and Sunni Sexton, all of Shallowater; and Timothy Lynskey, Daniel Martinez and Jaime Rosales, all of Wolfforth.

    Students from other Texas cities inducted were Thiess Brown of Weatherford; Luke Burkett of Lamesa; Kayla Coon of Seminole; Tori Edwards of Amarillo; and Taylor Gibson and Natalie Rock, both of Keller.

    Out of state students inducted into PTK were Sarah Beasley of Arlington, Wash., Kip Dallas of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Michael Englert of Lake Worth, Fla., Ernesto Favela-Munoz of Crestone, Colo., Morgan Pearce of East Moline, Ill.; and CJ Slade and Delano Slade, both of Carlsbad, N.M.

    Additional inductees who were unable to attend included Chloe Bales, Amanda Carroll, Cristobal Chavez, Louis Chiodo, Ashley Drew, Kirsty Edwards, Jenny Garrett, Caitlyn Gates, Stephanie Gillmore, Austin Hines, Krystyn Hucks, Bethany Klemme, LouAngeline Leano, Michael Nunn, Danny VanGunten, Lindsey Waldo, all of Lubbock; Jake Brozek of Bovina; Buckie Dobson of Morton, Trevor Franklin of Shallowater, Robert Guinn of Idalou, Matthew Jones of Gardendale, Dwayne Klassen of Seminole; Matthew Ledesma and Rosa Venzor, both of Slaton, Daniel Martinez of Seagraves and Bridget Morgan of Tuscola.

    To be eligible for induction, students must attend an institution offering an associate degree program, complete at least 12 hours of coursework, have full citizenship in their country and maintain a grade point average of 3.25 or above. The benefits of membership include access to letters of recommendation, enrollment in a senior college database and a membership pin.
