UB STUDENT PROJECT SUPPORTS U.S. MISSION IN IRAQ
SPC Upward Bound students know the importance of education and community support. That’s why they accepted 2nd Lt. Chad Harlow’s plea for help in rebuilding schools and communities where he serves as part of the U.S. peacekeeping mission in Iraq. Upward Bound students planned events in their own communities to collect donations and to raise funds. Donations of new or gently used school supplies and clothing were collected in the Upward Bound office on the SPC Levelland campus. A total of 362 items were collected. Monetary funds, totaling over $200, were raised through donations, car washes, and bake sales. The money will be used to purchase additional school supplies and to cover the shipping costs of these items to Iraq. The Upward Bound students and staff, as well as South Plains College, would like to offer a special thank you to all family, friends, schools and businesses from the communities of Brownfield, Levelland, Morton, Whiteface, and Whitharral that made this all possible.
