Commercial
Music
Offered at the Levelland Campus
The commercial
music curriculum is designed to provide the basic skills to equip the
student to work in the field of popular commercial music, including country
and bluegrass styles. The curriculum meets all requirements for the Associate
of Applied Arts degree.
The Creative
Arts department offers student musicians and technicians a nationally
acclaimed opportunity to participate in an array of music training and
performance experiences.
Faculty advisors
guide students in choosing from a broad menu of private instrument lessons
and ensemble classes (listed in paragraph blocks below each degree plan).
These classes are open to all SPC students; but those seeking degrees
under the Creative Arts Department may be subject to additional curricular
requirements, including completion of a Capstone Experience.
Students
seeking the Commercial Music associate degree or Certificate must satisfactorily
participate in a full-length televised public performance (Music Festival)
during their last semester in school. The students and faculty of the
Creative Arts Department produce these full-length productions each semester.
Program
advisor is Mickie Vasquez, program coordinator and instructor in commercial
music.
