SOUTH PLAINS JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT NOTICE OF ELECTION THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE SOUTH PLAINS JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT: I. That an election be held in said District on the second Saturday in May, the same being the 13th day of May, 2006, for the purpose of electing Regents for Position #5, 6 and 7 of the Board of Regents of said District. II. That said election shall be held at the following places in said District and the following named persons are hereby appointed officers for said election. 1. For election precinct consisting of the Smyer Independent School District, Hockley County, Texas at Smyer High School Building in Smyer, Texas, within the said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Smyer Independent School to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 2. For election precinct consisting of the Whitharral Independent District, Hockley County, Texas, at the Lions Club Building in Whitharral, Texas, within said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Whitharral Independent School District to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 3. For election precinct consisting of the Sundown Independent School District, Hockley County, Texas, at Sundown School Building in Sundown, Texas, within said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Sundown Independent School District to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 4. For election precinct consisting of the Ropes Independent School District, Hockley County, Texas at Ropes High School Building in Ropesville, Texas, within the said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Ropes Independent School to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 5. For election precinct consisting of the Levelland Independent District, Hockley County, Texas, at the Texan Dome located on the campus of South Plains College, Levelland, Texas, within said School District with Kathy Tubb as Presiding Judge and said Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist her 6. For election precinct consisting of the Whiteface Independent School District, Cochran County, Texas, and Hockley County, Texas, at the High School Gym in Whiteface, Texas, within the said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Whiteface Independent School District to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 7. For election precinct consisting of the Anton Independent School District, Hockley County, Texas, at the High School in Anton, Texas, alternate Judge as appointed by the Anton Independent School District to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 8. For election precinct consisting of the Pep Schools, Hockley County, Texas, at the Pep Schools at the cafeteria in Pep, Texas, within the said School District with the same Presiding Judge and Alternate Judge as appointed by the Whiteface Independent School District to hold said School District's election on the same date; and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him. 9. A special canvassing board to canvass the absentee ballots cast at such Regents election is hereby established with its meeting place to be in the Administration Building at the South Plains Junior College District, Levelland, Texas, with Tony Riley as Presiding Judge, and said Judge shall appoint at least two (2) clerks to assist him. 10. Frances Coats is hereby appointed Clerk for absentee voting. The absentee voting for the above described election shall be held in the Business Office at South Plains College, in Levelland, Texas, within the boundaries of the above named District and said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight (8) hours on each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or an official state holiday, beginning on the 12th day (May 1, 2006) and continuing through the 4th day (May 9,2006) preceding the date of said election. 11. The ballots of said election shall have printed thereon the names of all persons who have duly filed in the manner provided by law as a candidate for a contested position in said election, and the order of said names on said ballot shall be determined by a drawing in Article 6.05c of the Election Code. |
