BA. PURPOSE OF THE BOARD (BL)

The purpose of the Board of Regents is to provide for the program and welfare of the College and to establish, upon recommendation of the College President, the policies that govern the College’s organization and operation.

As a governing body, the Board shall be responsible for the governance and control of the College as follows:

  1. It is responsible for the purpose and philosophy of the institution.
  2. It acts as a policy-making body. It legislates to make these policies effective.
  3. It acts as an appraisal body sitting in judgment upon recommendations that may come to it through its executive officers or its members.
All authority not vested by the laws of the State of Texas in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board or in the Texas Education Agency shall be reserved and retained locally in the College District or in the Board as provided in applicable law.
