BAB. DUTIES OF THE BOARD (BL)

The Board is specifically empowered to perform these additional duties:

  1. Appoint the College President, evaluate the President and assist the President in the achievement of performance goals.
  2. Assume general responsibility for the College, delegating to the President such powers and duties as are necessary and appropriate for the efficient administration of the College.
  3. Levy and collect taxes and issue bonds.
  4. Study and pass upon the annual budget prepared by the College President.
  5. Study and pass upon recommendations of the President for additional capital outlay and determine the means of financing them.
  6. Confirm the appointment of administrative personnel, faculty and other employees of the institution as recommended by the College President, and approve their salaries and terms of office.
  7. Select a depository for District funds.
  8. Pass upon architect’s plans for buildings that have been authorized by the Board and upon the recommendation of the College President.
  9. Present needs of the college and give active support to them before the public and media.
  10. Order elections as required by law.
  11. Act as a body of final appeal for college personnel and the public in cases that may be appealed from the decision of the College President.
  12. Fill vacancies on the Board created by death or resignation in accordance with laws of the State of Texas.
  13. Approve fees and tuition in accordance with statutory requirements.
  14. Act as a fiduciary in the management of funds under the control of the College District subject to the Board’s control and management.
  15. Receive donations of money, securities, and property on behalf of the institution.
  16. Hold all rights and titles to the College District properties.
