Certificate of Proficiency

Basic Welding Processes

This certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the welding and metal fabricating industry.  Students will receive instruction in oxy-fuel welding, brazing, and cutting; shielded metal arc (stick), gas metal arc (mig), and gas tungsten arc (tig) welding of sheet metal, plate, and structural shapes.  Reading and interpretation of industrial blueprints, basic metallurgy, basic electricity, and welding safety are also presented.

This is a TSI-waived certificate. Students declaring this major are not subject to the THEA regulations unless they enroll in a curse outside the prescribed curriculum.
