Automotive Technology Fundamental Skills Certificate

Students may elect to complete the following curriculum and receive a Certificate of Proficiency in  Auto motive  Tech nology with emphasis in  auto motive fundamentals including electrical systems, brakes, suspension, steering, climate control, welding, computer applications, and business management/human relation skills. To qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency, the student must complete a Capstone Experience in the final semester of the program. This is a TSI- waived certificate. 

 

Industrial Manufacturing/Emerging Technologies

This program offers classes for basic certification, advanced certification and an applied associate degree. This program is designed to train technicians to troubleshoot, service, maintain and install wind/solar energy systems. Graduates are prepared to work as field service technicians in wind/solar and related industries. 

Welding Technology

South Plains College offers an excellent training program in welding technology. The programs is designed to provide you with the fundamental skills and technical knowledge used in today's welding and metal fabrication industries. The program emphasizes hands-on training using modern welding equipment.

The Welding Technology program offers a one-year basic welding processes certificate. Students wanting to complete the advanced certification or the applied associates can finish these at the Levelland Campus. 

Starting wages for welders are excellent, roughly three to five times the minimum wage depending on location and skill levels.

Vocational Nursing

The 12-month program enrolls 30 students annually from throughout the area. Following graduation, many new professionals remain in the Plainview area and find employment in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and doctors’ offices.

 

Cosmetology

The 12-month program enrolls 30 students annually from throughout the area. Following graduation, many new professionals remain in the Plainview area and find employment in salons or self-owned business. 

 

Workforce Development/Continuing Education

For adults who want to sharpen their job skills, SPC Plainview offers a variety of short courses. Programs are available to meet the continuing education needs of the Plainview community. Evening classes are offered in order to accommodate work schedules. These courses include beginning computers, certified nurse aide, and phlebotomy as well as many other self-improvement and skill building courses. Dual Credit

In a cooperative venture with Plainview Independent School District and other area school districts, SPC offers dual-credit classes for high school students. Dual credit classes allow students to simultaneously earn high school and college credit through these courses.
