SPC seeks nominations for 2026 Distinguished Alumni
The Development and Alumni Relations Office at South Plains College is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award. Community members are invited to submit nominations by Aug. 28.
Recipients of this award, established in 1987, are SPC alumni in various professions who have made noteworthy accomplishments in their careers and communities. Last year’s award recipients included Gary P. Nunn, a Texas Hall of Fame country music artist; Cory T. Newsom, president and CEO of City Bank; and Brett Brock, a production and tour manager for Steve Earle and Robert Earl Keen.
To be eligible, nominees must be former SPC students for whom the College played a significant role in their education. Nominees must have worked at least 10 years in their chosen profession or made substantial contributions during their career if less than 10 years. In addition, nominees’ colleagues or employers must have recognized them for outstanding contributions and achievements.
The Distinguished Alumni Recommendation Committee will screen all nominations and submit its choices to the president of the College. The SPC Board of Regents will later affirm the nominees through an official resolution bestowing the award.
Community members are encouraged to submit nominations for the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award via the online form on the SPC Alumni and Friends webpage or download a PDF of the form and mail it to the SPC Development and Alumni Relations Office, Box 156.
