South Plains College seeks participants to serve as academic coaches

LEVELLAND – For some students, classroom success begins with making a connection with someone who will support and encourage a student’s academic journey. To help students reach their potential, South Plains College is looking to hire academic coaches for fall 2021.

“An Academic Coach will work with an assigned faculty member and their students to create an inviting, engaging and collaborative learning environment by tutoring, coaching and mentoring struggling students,” said Rebecca Grunder, academic success coordinator.

Presently, the college is looking to hire Academic Coaches for English and Mathematic courses. Former teachers, retirees or anyone interested with a background in education who want to help students and work up to 15 hours weekly are asked to apply. A high school diploma is required;   however, an associate degree is preferred. To apply, click on the link: https://southplainscollege.peopleadmin.com/postings/2269.

“If you are looking for a part-time job, a current student or someone who wants to reinter the job market, consider becoming an Academic Coach,” said Grunder. “We want people who can bring out strong skills in students and identify weaknesses that can be turned into strengths.”
