South Plains College to offer Certified Nurse Aide class beginning Jan. 28 

 

LEVELLAND – South Plains College will offer a five-week Certified Nurse Aide course from Jan. 28 through Feb. 27 in Room 120 of the Technical Arts building. Enrollment is limited to 10 students. 

The course costs $500 and the textbook, (Skills and Techniques for the New Nursing Assistant, Eighth Edition by Barbara Gillogly), can be purchased in the bookstore. Clinicals will be arranged at the Levelland Nursing Home. Students will be charged an additional fee of $104.50 for the state examination and $15 for CPR. The instructor is Tammy Shirley, LVN. 

During the first week (Jan. 28-Feb. 1), the class will meet from 4 p.m.. to 8 p.m.. Monday through Friday. The next three weeks, the class will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 p.m.. to 8 p.m.. Clinicals will meet on Thursdays for the second, third
and fourth weeks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. During the fifth week, clinicals will meet Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m..
 

Students must provide proof of immunization for MMR since 1981, Tetanus no older than 10 years, Hepatitis B Series, Varicella or proof of chicken pox and have a current negative TB test no older than 12 months, photo identification and social security card prior to enrollment. A criminal background check will be performed for all students.
