South Plains College to offer community cooking classes for summer 2019

 

LUBBOCK – The Culinary Arts Program at South Plains College Lubbock Career and Technical Center will offer four community cooking classes for summer 2019. 

The Tour of the East Coast will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on June 8 (Saturday). The class will focus on regional cuisine from Charleston, Key West and the Mexican Peninsula. 

Brunch Specialties will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on June 15 (Saturday). The menu will feature combinations of sweet/savory breakfast and lunch dishes. 

How to Prepare a Perfect Steak returns on July 20 (Saturday). The class will focus on the best cooking methods for types of beef cuts, marinade composition/use and steak sauces/toppings. The class is slated for 10 a.m. to noon. 

The Tour of the Pacific Rim will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on July 27 (Saturday). The menu will feature eclectic and spicy dishes from Asian regions. 

All cooking tools, utensils, supplies and ingredients will be provided. A recipe booklet and instruction will be given to participants in a special take home folder. 

All participants must wear closed toe or non-porous shoes. (No fabric mesh tennis shoes because hot oils can drip into these shoes and cause burns.) It is recommended that students wear shirts with at least short sleeves and no exposed underarms.
