TxDLA recognizes SPC instructional designer with higher ed award

Heather Medley HeadshotThe Texas Digital Learning Association awarded the Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Digital Learning by an Individual (Two-Year) Higher Ed award to South Plains College Instructional Designer Heather Medley.

Medley will receive the TxDLA award and celebrate with other award recipients at the association’s 2026 Annual Conference Awards Ceremony on March 25 in Galveston.

Medley has been instrumental in integrating open educational resources across several SPC programs, helping the College receive grants and state recognition for its AI-augmented OER projects. Her efforts also helped SPC earn a 2025 Star Award from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and an opportunity to present about AI and OER at a THECB meeting on April 23 in Austin.

“I’m incredibly honored to receive this recognition from TxDLA,” Medley said. “While I’m grateful for the opportunity to help lead this work, the real impact happens because of the faculty who bring these ideas to life in their classrooms every day. I’m fortunate to work alongside colleagues at South Plains College who are deeply committed to improving access, innovation and student success.”
