SPC Workforce Development to offer Medication Aide class on Jan. 23  

 

LUBBOCK – South Plains College Workforce Development will offer a Medication Aide course from 6 p.m.. to 9 p.m.. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the SPC Lubbock Center, 3907 Ave. Q. The course will run through April 5, and it is required for certification as a Medication Aide. 

The cost is $525, and it is limited to 10 participants. The deadline for registration ends when the class is full. Participants that successfully complete the course will be awarded a Continuing Education Certificate for 14 hours. 

Students will receive instruction in the responsibilities and procedures associated with the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed personnel employed in health care facilities licensed by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Pre-registration is required. 

Students are required to bring a valid driver’s license, social security card and a certified nurse aide license. The names must match on the original diploma, transcript or certified GED letter. 

Additional requirements include all shot records with proof of immunization for MMR two shot series or TITER; TB Test not older than one year prior to the first class day; Tetanus not older than 10 years prior to the first day of class; Hepatitis B (Number One, Number Two and Number Three) or TITER); Varicella or proof of chicken pox and a flu shot. 

Participants must complete the SPC CE application at https://www.southplainscollege.edu/community/continuinged.php and register for the class. New students must create an account while existing students can log-in.
