South Plains College Natatorium is open for swimming, classes

 

LEVELLAND – The Natatorium at South Plains College Natatorium has opened for the fall semester with a variety of swimming classes for people of all ages. The pool is open through Dec. 13 

Lap Swim Only will be available from noon to 1 p.m.. Monday through Friday. Recreational and Lap Swimming will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m.. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as well as from 4 to 5:30 p.m.. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

The following Community Classes cost $70, and classes are offered from Tuesday (Sept. 4) through Dec. 7 on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. 

* The Early Bird Swim (lap swimming only) is set for 6:30 a.m. - 7:15 a.m.

* The Shallow and Deep Water Aerobics (non-instructional) is slated for 7:15 a.m. - 8 a.m.

* The Arthritis Swim featuring exercises that helps the joints and muscles (instructional) is set for 8 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. 

The following classes are offered only on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

* Water Aerobics (instructional) is a cardiovascular program that helps improve strength and flexibility. The class is set for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.. 

Natatorium Membership prices are – full time faculty, staff and students are admitted at no charge (I.D. required); Fitness Center Members must present their ID for free admission; Hockley County seniors over age 65 is admitted at no charge; full time SPC Staff Family admission costs $75 yearly; the family rate (2 adults/2 children) is $150 semester or $300 annually; the cost is $100 for couples per semester or $200 annually; the cost for singles is $75 per semester or $150 annually; and the guest rate (must accompany a member) is $5 per person. 

Private parties also can be arranged. The SPC Natatorium rents for $150. This includes lifeguards for a two-hour party for one to 50 people. The balcony or outdoor patio may be used

for refreshments. The person scheduling the party is responsible for clean-up. Parties must be scheduled during open swim time with at least one week’s notice in advance and a $50 deposit is required.

 

The Natatorium will be closed Sept. 3 for Labor Day, Oct. 12 for Fall Break; and Nov. 21-23.
