SPC Workforce Development to offer Pharmacy Tech course on Feb. 5   

 

LUBBOCK – South Plains College Workforce Development will offer a Pharmacy Tech course from Feb. 5 through April 2. The class will meet in Room LC118 at the SPC Lubbock Center, 3907 Ave. Q. Enrollment is limited to 10 students. 

The classes will meet from 6 p.m.. to 9 p.m.. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The course costs $361. 

This is a test preparation review course for pharmacy technicians who will be taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. The course is designed to augment on-the-job training or provide an individual who has extensive knowledge with the tools to successfully complete the national exam. 

This is an introductory course where highly motivated individuals willing to spend a significant amount of outside class time in memorization and other study techniques also can benefit. The subjects covered will include pharmacology, safety, terminology, packing, dispensing, distribution, inventory management, ration strengths, business math, calculating IV flow rates and other related topics. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam is available all year. 

Students must bring a valid driver’s license or ID and a social security card. A background check will be conducted on all students enrolling in the class. 

Students must complete the SPC CE application at www.southplainscollege.edu/community/continuinged.php and register for the class. New students must create an account while existing students can log-in.
