Real Book, Wheeler Duo slates performance on Nov. 2

 

LEVELLAND – The Real Book ensemble in South Plains College’s Creative Arts program will perform at 7:30 p.m.. on Thursday (Nov. 2) in the Tom T. Hall Production Studio. 

Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. 

The vocal, jazz ensemble will play songs ranging from tradition standards to modern jazz during the performance. Participants will hear songs by Frank Sinatra to Duke Ellington., according to Brent Wheeler, director of Guitar Studies and assistant professor of Music. 

“The Wheeler Duo and friends will perform following Real Book,” he said. 

The Wheeler Duo features Brent and Emily Wheeler. They will be joined on stage by vocalist Jennifer Feddes of Iowa and drummer Brian Tate, instructor in Commercial Music. The set will feature multiple new compositions that will be included in an upcoming album. The duo’s current cd, “Comings and Goings,” will be available for purchase.
