South Plains College announces reopening plan starting summer 2021

 

LEVELLAND – South Plains College recently announced its Reopening Plan Modification beginning summer 2021.

 

According to South Plains College President Dr. Robin Satterwhite, “As we transition to a new set of guidelines, we will remain focused on the health and safety of our students and employees.  Our plans are consistent with CDC and state health department guidelines and have been carefully developed with the support of our health advisor.

 

“I look forward to SPC returning to a more normal summer and fall semester,” he said.

 

Beginning in Summer I (2021)

    • 100 percent for Summer 1 enrollment
    • Technical education increased to 75 percent in Summer with masks required
    • Summer 1 students continue to wear masks in classrooms
  • Summer II (2021)
    • 100 percent enrollment
    • No mask requirement
  • Fall (2021)
    • 100 percent enrollment
    • No mask requirement
  • Employees
    • May 17 no mask requirement
    • If closed room meetings with individuals without immunization, please wear masks.
    • Employees with close student contact should continue to wear masks while in contact with students.
  • July 7 – First day of second semester
    • No mask requirement for faculty, staff and students
    • Technical programs that extend throughout the summer or whose end date is beyond the July 7 date will be considered on an individual basis for any mask requirements based on closeness of proximity, shared instruments and classroom/lab conditions.

 

Additional Information: 

  • Quarantine rules still apply for students, faculty, staff who have not been vaccinated or who have not had COVID within 90 days.
  • Continue to keep work areas sanitized.
  • Continue to space students/employees in areas where large groups are working together.
  • Consider getting immunized.
  • Continue to use strict and regular hygiene protocol.
