South Plains College to honor eight retirees for spring 2022

 

LEVELLAND – South Plains College will honor eight employees who are retiring in the spring 2022 semester. The retirees have combined for 191 years of service to SPC, and each played a vital role in the success of the college as well as the thousands of students who pass through its doors annually. 

 

The retirees are Korbi Berryhill, Rhonda Bridges, Reva Jan Buxkemper, Rhonda Giussani, Robert Knight, Jimmie McGee, Marilyn Rodriguez and Pete Stracener.

  • Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Vocational Nursing, Korbi Berryhill is retiring after 30 years of service. She started working for the college on Aug. 14, 1992. Her last day of service will be May 31, 2022.
  • Basic Skills Specialist Rhonda Bridges is retiring after 15 years of service. She began working for the college on Feb. 1, 2007. Her last day of service was Feb. 28, 2022.
  • Associate Professor of Associate Degree Nursing Reva Jan Buxkemper is retiring after 23 years of service. She began working at SPC on Aug. 19, 1997. Her last day was May 30, 2020.
  • Administrative Assistant Rhonda Giussani is retiring with 20 years of service. She started working at the college on Sept. 18, 2002. Her last day on campus was Jan. 20, 2022.
  • Assistant Professor of English Robert Knight is retiring with nine years of service. He began working for SPC on Aug. 19, 2013. His last day of service is May 31, 2022.
  • Professor of Government Jimmie McGee is retiring with 30 years of service. He started working for the college on Aug. 14, 1992. His last day is May 31, 2022.
  • Buyer I, Marilyn Rodriguez, is retiring with 22 years of service. She started working at SPC on Jan. 1, 2000. Her last day on campus will be July 20, 2022.  
  • Department Chairperson in Industrial Technology and Professor of Welding Technology Pete Stracener is retiring with 42 years of service. He began working for the college on Jan. 5, 1981. His last day of service is May 31, 2022.

The retirees will be recognized during a reception at 10 a.m. May 6 in the Wilburn and Helen Wheeler Science Building.
