SUMMARY

Conducts college courses for undergraduate students by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned and/or included in the Faculty Handbook.

  • Teaches welding courses within prescribed curriculum.
  • Prepares and delivers lectures to students.
  • Maintains current skills in teaching area.
  • Assign and evaluate student projects and assists students with lab projects.
  • Stimulate class discussions.
  • Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
  • Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations.
  • Serves on faculty committees.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Instructors in this position must hold an Associates degree or higher and have a minimum of five years current experience as a welder.  Candidates for this position must demonstrate a work history characterized by reliability and dependability as well as an ability to articulate and cooperate with the business community.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Instructors in WLDG must possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  In addition, the instructor must have ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, as well as ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

 

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

The skill level in this constantly changing field is demanding.  The frequency of change for new technology remains at a challenging level.  Faculty must continually utilize professional development to remain up to date on consumer and industrial products and equipment changes.

 

REASONING ABILITY

WLDG instructors must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.  Instructors must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use the tools of the welder.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
