What is dual credit?

Dual credit is a partnership between South Plains College and area high schools. This program allows you to receive college credit for courses taken while in high school. SPC is able to offer these dual credit courses to high school students at a discounted rate.

Who is eligible?

Students who are in TSI compliance, have permission from their high school principal and have met South Plains College admission requirements are eligible to enroll in dual credit courses.

How do I apply?

  •  The student must complete a Dual Credit Admissions Application for South Plains College along with a complete Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment  Approval Form. The Approval Form must be approved and signed by the student's principal and parent/guardian. Student must also submit a high school transcript prior to enrollment in courses.
  • The student must meet course requirements related to TSI.
  • Upon acceptance to South Plains College, the student will be admitted under the conditional entrance policy.
  • Students taking Dual Credit courses should contact the high school counselor regarding UIL (NO PASS/NO PLAY) regulations. Students who drop a college course are subject to forfeiting UIL eligibility. Please consult with your high school counselor.
  • By signing the Dual Credit and Concurrent Enrollment Form the student and parent/guardian give South Plains College permission to release the student's academic record to the high school.

While attending South Plains College, the student will be expected to adhere to all policies of the college.

Once approved for the program, the student should follow the regular admission steps. Dual Credit students are encouraged to contact the university they are planning to attend after SPC to determine how courses will apply to their course of study. It is the responsibility of the student to check on out-of-state requirements.
