SPC seeks nominations for 2025 Distinguished Alumni

LEVELLAND – The Development and Alumni Relations Office at South Plains College is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award. Community members are invited to submit nominations through August 29.

Established in 1987, the award is given to SPC alumni in various professions who have made noteworthy accomplishments in their careers and communities. Last year’s award recipients included Vernon Norwood, a gold medalist in the men’s 4x400-meter relay during the 2024 Summer Olympics, and Leslie Valentine, senior regional product creation director at Nike, where she oversees operations across Asia.

To be eligible, nominees must be former SPC students for whom the college played a significant role in their education. Nominees must have worked at least 10 years in their chosen profession or made substantial contributions in their career if less than 10 years. In addition, colleagues or employers of the nominees must have recognized them for outstanding contributions and achievements.

The Distinguished Alumni Recommendation Committee will screen all nominations and submit its recommendations to the president of the college. The SPC Board of Regents will later affirm the recommendations through an official resolution bestowing the award.

Community members are encouraged to submit nominations for the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award via the online form at https://www.southplainscollege.edu/alumni-giving/alumni-friends/nominationforms.php or download a PDF of the form and mail it to the SPC Development and Alumni Relations Office Box 156.
