SPC to host 2025 Christmas Tree Lighting event on Dec. 4
To mark the beginning of Levelland’s 2025 Festival of Lights and Christmas on the
Square, South Plains College will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
on Dec. 4 at the entrance to its Levelland campus.
Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with games for kids and live music. Gary Hudson, chair of SPC’s Fine Arts Department, will direct the band, and Erin Wolff, assistant professor of commercial music, will lead the carolers.
The countdown for the tree lighting will start at 6 p.m. as Mike Box, chairman of the SPC Board of Regents, screws a missing lightbulb into a string of lights. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance before heading to the Gazebo on the Hockley County Courthouse Square.
While taking in the lights, attendees can participate in the cookie-decorating station and enjoy free hot chocolate and hot apple cider courtesy of SPC’s Student Life office.
