2026 SPC Elite Student Showcase to feature Cody Kastler

South Plains College commercial music student Cody Kastler will perform at the fourth-annual Elite Student Showcase at 7 p.m. on April 9 at the Tom T. Hall Production Studio in the Creative Arts Building on the Levelland campus. The public is invited to attend this free concert, which Kastler will organize with the help of SPC faculty and students.

Kastler, a guitarist from Bridgeport, said his showcase will mostly consist of original rock ‘n’ roll songs and a song written by his father, who was a musical inspiration to him.

“The idea is that we all come from God, and there’s a part of God in all of us,” he said regarding the theme of his showcase, “the ballad of ae.”

Elite Student

Every year, the SPC Creative Arts Department selects an Elite Student to produce a concert that showcases their personality and musical inspirations and shares an important message. With the generous support of his bandmates from SPC’s No Ballads ensemble, Kastler said he will bring his vision to life.

A soon-to-be SPC graduate in May, Kastler also credits the faculty at the College for encouraging him to apply for the showcase and for helping him become the musician he is today.

“I actually came to SPC for the first time in 2011 and took a few semesters,” he said. “It has been cool coming back. The people at SPC are so phenomenal. They really make this program what it is.”
