SPC to host Joe Dee Brooks Memorial Rodeo from April 23-25

The South Plains College Joe Dee Brooks Memorial Rodeo from April 23-25 at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland will raise money for SPC’s rodeo program while honoring a beloved SPC alumnus and member of the local community.

Brooks was a Levelland native and 2023 SPC Pacesetter Award honoree who supported the College and made a difference in the lives of its students. His donation to SPC’s Welding Building expansion increased the number of welding stations to 80, allowing more students to earn their welding degrees and certifications.

Brooks founded Allied Oilfield Machine and Pump, a Levelland-based company that has provided the latest oil and gas technology to customers across West Texas, New Mexico and other parts of the United States since 2003. Outside of work, he dedicated his time to the community by serving on multiple organizations, including the South Plains Community Action Association, where he was board president.

“The Joe Dee Brooks Memorial Rodeo allows us to honor a respected alumnus whose generosity and commitment to South Plains College have a lasting impact on our students and programs,” Kerry Doster, SPC head rodeo coach, said. “Our event will be the final contest of the season, where regional champions will be crowned to qualify for the College National Finals in Casper, Wyoming. Friends and family all over the country can watch not only our athletes but also other contestants in our region.”

DE-AX Trailer Sales, owned by SPC alumnus Dean Lopez and Dax Stokes, will serve as the title sponsor of the Memorial Rodeo. Those interested in becoming an event sponsor can choose from multiple levels and receive VIP and meal tickets along with benefits, including promotional poster advertising, arena banners and announcer spots during the events. All proceeds from the event will benefit SPC Rodeo.

For more information about becoming a sponsor, contact Doster at 432-230-0452 or kdoster@southplainscollege.edu.
