SPC to host Summer Songwriting Showcase featuring Jake Worthington

LEVELLAND – South Plains College’s Commercial Music Department will host the second-annual Summer Songwriting Showcase featuring singer and songwriter Jake Worthington. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on June 22 at the Tom T. Hall Production Studio in the Creative Arts Building on the Levelland campus.

Admission is $30, and songwriters of all experience levels are encouraged to attend. The Showcase will include songwriting tips, a jingle workshop, songwriter performances and a Q&A session with Worthington.

Worthington, a La Porte native, has made a name for himself across Texas, Tennessee and other parts of the U.S. He released his 13-song debut album, Jake Worthington, in 2023.

Worthington has opened for Cody Johnson, Riley Green, Pat Green, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST and more artists. He has guest spots on Hixtape: Vol. 2 on “Jonesin,” Ronnie Dunn's album 100 Proof Neon on “Honky Tonk Town” and ERNEST's extension Flower Shops (The Album) on “Heartache In My 100 Proof.”

“I'm so excited an artist of his caliber will share his stories and songs with us,” SPC music instructor Jerry Serrano said. “We are looking forward to hearing his songs and advice for fellow and aspiring songwriters.”
