Using Verbit for Captioning

Verbit is an online captioning service that promises:

  • 99% accurate transcription and captioning, plus audio description
  • Rest API that fits workflows
  • Administrator approval flow
  • HIPAA, SOC 2, HECVAT, VPAT, GDPR compliance
  • Integration with LMS, web conferencing and media hosting platforms
  • Professional translation of all languages

TO USE VERBIT FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1. Request to be a user in Verbit. Send an email to blackboard@southplainscollege.edu. Verbit will send you an email once you are set up.

2. Go to verbit.ai and log in.

Once you log in, it will take you to the My Files page. The My Files page allows users to search for files by name, date, etc. as well as upload new files for captioning.

3. Find the circle at the bottom right of the screen. Click the orange circle with the plus sign in it to upload your video file.

When you upload your video, you will get confrimation that it uploaded.

Within 24 hours, you will receive another email stating that your captioning is complete.

Next you will want to marry the SRT file with your video file so that the captions appear on the video. You can use a service called Happy Scribe to do this.
