DHF. Bereavement Leave

Absence necessitated by death in an employee's immediate family shall entitle the employee to leave with pay for the time required to attend the funeral and necessary travel time. The President must approve time requiring more than three (3) working days. Immediate family is defined, for the purpose of Bereavement Leave, as spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, children, grandchildren, grandparents, mother or father in law, and sister or brother-in-law. Relatives of former spouses are not considered immediate family members. An absence form must be submitted to the appropriate supervisor immediately upon return to work.  The absence form will be forwarded it to the Human Resources Office.
